Hiking Trails
Climb to a hilltop temple for sweeping views of the Kumaon Himalayas—Nanda Devi, Trishul, Panchachuli and more, shimmering in the crisp mountain light. Another path leads down to a quiet village and onwards to a Kosi River tributary—an untamed trail best explored with a local guide.
Experience
Hartola’s hills hold ancient pathways once tread by shepherds and sages. These trails meander through pine forests, rhododendron groves, and terraced orchards, unfolding into some of the most breathtaking vistas in Kumaon.
One trail leads uphill to a centuries-old stone temple — a rewarding climb with panoramic views of the snow-capped Nanda Devi range. Another winds down into a secluded valley, through fern-covered slopes and spring-fed streams, eventually reaching a tributary of the Kosi River. Here, the landscape changes — wilder, denser, and teeming with untamed beauty.
These hikes offer more than exercise; they’re immersive experiences into the heart of the Himalayas.

Local Experiences
This was one of the best stays we’ve had in recent times. The cottages, hospitality, food, and people were all wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the natural beauty all around. Umesh ji and his team went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. It was the perfect getaway with the perfect location. Highly recommended!
