Kumaoni Food
Dig into the soulful flavours of the Himalayas. From bhatt ki churkani to mandua rotis and freshly churned ghee—each bite tells a story of the hills. Served with warmth, often in the open courtyard, it’s a taste of tradition you won’t forget
Experience
Meals at Devshakti are not just nourishing—they’re deeply rooted in heritage. Every dish is prepared with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, often grown in the surrounding orchards and village gardens. The smoky aroma of slow-cooked lentils, the earthy tang of jakhia seeds, the crispness of mandua rotis—all combine to create a culinary memory steeped in the rhythms of the mountains.
You’ll dine in the open, under clear skies or beside a crackling fire, with views of the valleys unfolding beyond. Whether it’s a humble breakfast of millet porridge and honey, or a celebratory thali featuring a dozen flavours, Kumaoni cuisine is always served with generosity and grace.

Local Experiences
We’re pretty familiar with Hartola since the last six years as we’ve only stayed in one place all these while. However, this time round, we had the blessing of staying here for 3 important days as I needed to work. My husband and I were so grateful to find another home in this beautiful Hartola, with great hospitality, kind and very pleasant Umesh Bhaiya and Sobhan Bhaiya. Despite the cold weather in the evenings, the warmth of the kitchen and the great food was such a soothing balm. Hubby and I will definitely be back and surely recommend it to family and friends for a great time.
